Uncorrected machine reading. This text was read by machine (Apple Vision OCR) from a scan of a newspaper page, and the page was cut into articles by machine, at the headlines found by their type size. Nothing has been corrected: expect misread words, text from a neighbouring article, and titles that are the machine reading of the headline, some of them only fragments. Quote from the scan, not from this page.
How this article was cut and titled: headline found by type size in the OCR geometry (split_tabloid.py); 4-4 of 4; machine-segmented newspaper page; uncorrected Vision OCR.

UNIVERSITY Congratulations on the article Capitalism and the Universities' (Dwarf 14 Feb) which completely exposed the role of the university in a capitalist society. I should like to point out that "co-operation between industry and universities has grown over the past decade. This practice has furthermore now obtained official approval from Whitehall. I refer now to the establishment of the Technological University. Thus the Vice-Chancellor of Loughborough University of Technology could write in a pamphlet entitled 'Loughborough, Industry's Own University'.

"Stated simply, our aim is to build on our pavel pring along the lines ce ich industry itseir tradition of service industry requires and we have resolved to avoid the temptation of moving towards the academic pattern established In the conventional universities.. - we undertake to train the manpower they need, and continue in every way to justify our claim to be 'Industry's Own University I feel it is unnecessary to comment further as the quote speaks for itself. 1969 catalogue available soon. Bai-Ley CHINA CULTURAL CO LTD 54 Mill Road, Cambridge Tariq Ali, As you fond of organising demonstrations why do you not go back to your own country of Pakistan where they are demonstrating against their government? Can it be that you are frightened to face the Pakistan police who, unlike the tolerant British polic might beat you up or shoot you? Your friend the German Rudi is frightened to stay in Germany in case he is shot again. How brave to run away in case you get hurt.

The British people are getting tired of the antics of you foreign thugs and will demand that our police hit back hard and that foreign trouble makers be deported to thei own country and people like you will have the British passports taken away.

You should read history and read wha happened to other rabble rousers, to some, Danton, Robespierre, Marat, St. Hitler, Mussolini, Trotsky. It will happen you.

L. Jennings.

Tiverton North Devon.
