Uncorrected machine reading. This text was read by machine (Apple Vision OCR) from a scan of a newspaper page, and the page was cut into articles by machine, at the headlines found by their type size. Nothing has been corrected: expect misread words, text from a neighbouring article, and titles that are the machine reading of the headline, some of them only fragments. Quote from the scan, not from this page.
How this article was cut and titled: headline found by type size in the OCR geometry (split_tabloid.py); 4-5 of 5; machine-segmented newspaper page; uncorrected Vision OCR.

After a promising start, our Fighting Fund brought in only f24.40 last week, bringing the total for the month so far to E127.40. Our thanks for that to: Cambridge IMG £20; J. Bisset, £1.50; Hemel Hempstead 90p; and f2 from an East Birmingham AUEW District Committee delegate.

But we need more than that if we are to make a consistent effort to improve the paper. This week sees one advance Wit justified copy on both the front and back pages. But to keep this up and extend it to the rest of the paper we must be guaranteed a regular income from the Fighting Fund.

This is especially important since this is the most difficult time of year for us. With Subscribe NAME....

Write to RED WEEKLY (distribution), many regular supporters taking holidays and incurring extra expenses, both sales and our income from the Fighting Fund tend to drop. But we can't afford to drop of in the fight against the anti-working class policies of the Labour Government. An other £1,000 million worth of cuts are on the way, Government is also preparing yet more restrictive immigration controls After this issue there will be only one more before our two week summer break so please make every effort to sacrifice just a bit more for your paper -and keep sending in the money even when there's no paper You know the address: Fighting Fund, 97 Caledonian Road, London N1.
